Howard County District Judge Neil E. Axel received the Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence 2012 Criminal Justice Award at the MNADV’s Annual Meeting and Award Luncheon in November. The MNADV is the state domestic violence coalition that brings together victim service providers, allied professionals, and concerned individuals for the common purpose of reducing intimate partner and family violence and its harmful effects on citizens, and provides education, training, resources, and advocacy to advance victim safety and abuser accountability.
Court of Appeals Judge Mary Ellen Barbera received the Advancement of Professional Competence Award from the Maryland Bar Foundation during its Professional Legal Excellence Awards ceremony in October. (Watch a Maryland State Bar Association video of the some of the ceremony.)
Court of Appeals Chief Judge Robert M. Bell received the Marvin E. Johnson Diversity and Equity Award from the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR) during its Annual Conference in New Orleans in September. The award recognizes “dedicated leadership and passionate contribution to bridging the divides between people of different cultures and backgrounds.” ACR is the nation’s largest professional association for mediators, arbitrators, educators and other conflict resolution practitioners.
Retired Judge William D. Missouri received the Maryland Bar Foundation’s Advancementof Public Service Responsibility Award during the Foundation’s Professional Legal Excellence Awards ceremony in October. (Watch a Maryland State Bar Association video of the some of the ceremony.)
